Life, Weekend Stories

The Saga that is My Life…

I have a big bug phobia, but what I’m about to tell you I feel like would be true for ANYONE.

Last night, I got home at 2 AM and saw that both my and my neighbor’s doors were swarming with a plethora of bugs! They were flying in every which way, and i couldn’t get within two feet without nearly inhaling one if I so much as took a breath. So, killing them with my shoes (which is what I usually do) was not even a realistic option.

I knew the second I open my door, a whole bunch of ‘em were going to join me indoors.

So I did the only sensible thing I could:

  • 2 AM – 3 AM: I contemplated checking myself into a hotel, but instead laid in the back seat of my car & listened to a murder mystery on audio.
  • 3 AM – 4 AM: Between my physical discomfort and the thought of suffocating inside, I decided to go for a drive. Drove 30 minutes one way, and then traveled back.
  • 4 AM – 5 AM: I attempted to sleep in the driver’s seat by putting my seat as far back as it would go.
  • 5 AM – 5:45 AM: Counted sun rays till I knew there was enough light out that the bugs would leave my door.

And lo and behold – when I approached my door at sunlight, most of them were either dead, pretending to be dead or found a new place to idle till evening.

Then I came home, and fell asleep at 6:30 AM.

So, in conclusion, I need to keep bug spray in my car, or simply never step foot outside after sunset between the months of June – September.
