Reflections on turning 35

Last week I turned 35! And a week later, I am ready to properly share my reflection of this new age bracket.

My initial reaction to my 35th birthday was one of uncertainty.  Continue reading “Reflections on turning 35”

New Year, New Resolution!

Well guys, 2016 is FINALLY over and good freaking riddance!

I don’t normally like to write off an entire year as “bad” because it’s never exactly accurate. But wow was 2016 as bad as it has gotten in many years! Not just for me, but for many of my friends, families, the world, and hell, even celebrities! There have been constant bad news and to rise above it was more than difficult at times. Daily Recommendation: Take Action Against Hate Crime

Hi Everyone,

After almost a month away, I’m back! Thank you for your patience while I had to take some time off due to aggressive traveling and an injury. Without further ado, let’s hop right into it.

July 13: Take Action Against Hate Crime

I have never been on the receiving end of a hate crime, and I consider myself very lucky, given the world we live in. That is until two nights ago, when the most degrading choice words were stringed together in what would normally be considered an incoherent sentence, and sent via text to me from an unknown number. I was initially stunned because although I didn’t recognize the number, the content of the text made it clear that this person knew “enough” about me. I never do a daily recommendation without having tried the product out for myself. But like all rules, there are exceptions. And while I have not tried out this 15 minute exercise pattern in the order in which suggested, I am done every single one of those exercises and I know they WORK! So, while I give this workout a try every day, I thought I would share it with you so you could do it with me too!  Continue reading “Daily Recommendation: 15 Minute Workout”

Daily Recommendation: Focus on the Keywords, Everything Else is Noise

June 8: Focus on the Keywords, Everything Else is Noise

Today’s recommendation is a bit more mystic, personal and extra-subjective. Yet, it applies to all of us. We are constantly surrounded by voices – at work, at home, at social gatherings and not to mention the ones that are inside our own head. After awhile, you either get overwhelmed with all that or you become complacent. Neither has a positive outcome. It’s important to take a step back every now and again, and see your life from an outside perspective. It’s like when people say they are float out of their body and look down at themselves (or was that just Rachel from “Friends”?). Either way, a step back reflection is often required.  Continue reading “Daily Recommendation: Focus on the Keywords, Everything Else is Noise”

Daily Recommendation: Vote!

June 7: Vote

Today is the Primary election day in the states of California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota. Generally on this day, you’re either on the side of “I’m going to go out and vote!” (that’s me) or “My vote doesn’t really matter, why should I bother?” (plenty of people I know).

I’m not here to tell you the complex reasons behind why you should vote – a simple Google search will render better results than what I can tell you. However, I would like to share my very simplistic perspective of why I feel everyone should vote. But first, let’s get the obvious out of the way: Does my vote even count?

Daily Recommendation: Essence of Ojo Native American Flute Music CD

June 2: Essence of Ojo Native American Flute Music CD

Listening to sounds of nature is an effective stress reliever. Something about human beings and nature just go hand in hand, imagine that. I love listening to soothing music to relax my mind so when I walked into the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa in New Mexico, and heard the background music, I immediately knew I needed to own it.

You Do Not Represent Me

As a woman, there is one category in which I am under and/or not represented well: the inevitable road to motherhood.

Mother’s Day passed a couple of weeks ago and all over social media, I read comments from proud mommas. They were filled with joy, pride, happiness and in several cases, an inaccurate statement representing all women. Although, not verbatim, they all seem to elude that Motherhood was the ultimate goal for women.

Whoa there! Err…not really.

If you think the female voice is unheard amongst the male dominant society, I’ve got news for you. Plenty of female voices go unheard within our own circle. Continue reading “You Do Not Represent Me”
