August 20/21: L’Oreal Paris Detox & Brightening Pure Clay Mask

I am obsessed with face masks and I love charcoal based face products, which is why Dark Angel from Lush is one of my most favorite face cleanser. So, I’ve been really excited to try L’Oreal’s new line of clay masks. One of its biggest incentive is the affordable price ($12.99 on Loreal.com, $9.98 on Amazon). To be fair to the product, I decided to try one mask out at a time, beginning with the detox and brightening mask for its obvious charcoal ingredient. As per direction, I applied it three times a week and have been using it for three weeks (the bottle will last me about another week). So, one jar will last approximately one month if used as directed.

June 22: BeautyBlender BlenderCleaner Solid

I’ve had the beauty blender for awhile and I absolutely love it (read about it here). I haven’t cleaned it since using it and eventually the quality of the application became less flawless. It was time to invest in the cleanser so I purchased the Blendercleanser solid. Incredibly easy to use and so very effective! I could not believe the boat load of foundation gook that came out of my beauty blender! Really gross actually.

Daily Recommendation: Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes

It’s getting harder to do daily recommendations since I’m cooped up in the house, recovering, with very little contact with the outside world. But, I’m trying. It might take a few more weeks to really get back into a proper rhythm and for that, I apologize.

July 19: Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes

My go to make-up remover is the Estee Edit but when I’m on the go, I still need to rely on wipes for quick access. I have been moving to natural products for my skin as much as humanly possible so when I came across the Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes, I definitely wanted to give them a try. I’m pretty skeptical about make up wipes. Although I figured they would be good, because I really like Josie Maran products, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away.  Continue reading “Daily Recommendation: Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes”

Daily Recommendation: How To Go Lighter If You Have Dark Hair

June 13: How To Go Lighter If You Have Dark Hair

It took this many years, for a stylist to finally tell me how to take my naturally dark hair (photo left) to a much lighter shade (photo right) that I’ve been trying to attempt every summer. The key: you have to get your hair lightened gradually but in frequent back to back sessions. That’s it! You can’t expect to go from dark black hair to light brown/blonde highlights in one session, it is impossible without severely damaging your hair.

I have always struggled with finding the ideal hair dryer, either they cost an arm and leg or they would stop functioning far too quickly. That is until a few years ago, when I was in the market for a good hair dryer with a reasonable price tag and my hair stylist recommended the Moroccanoil hair dryer (model no: M02000). I’ve been using it for over 2 years now and have loved it consistently. It’s got the right about of “gizmos” without being a product thats too fluffy for its own good.  Continue reading “Daily Recommendation: Moroccanoil Professional Series Hair Dryer”

Daily Recommendation: Abreva

May 29/30: Abreva

I rarely get cold sores, but when I do, it is one of the ugliest things to visually see and physically feel. I used to do household remedies like treating it with toothpaste overnight, to dry. Not the most effective tool but desperate times call for desperate measure. That is until I discovered Abreva, thanks to a doctor friend of mine. Abreva has been around for ages, so it’s certainly not a new discovery. Having said that, a lot of people I know don’t use Abreva when they have a cold sore. So, I thought I would bring some light to it.

May 18: Mitchell & Peach’s Fine Radiance Face Oil

The myth that oil is bad for your face has been put to rest time and time again. The only oil that is bad for your skin is the one you consume, not the one you apply. Having said that, I have been trying out various face oils over the past year, and till date, my favorite one is the sample I once received in my Ipsy bag, Mitchell and Peach Flora No. 1 Fine Radiance Face Oil

Daily Recommendation: Balayage It

May 11: Balayage It!

What is Balayage?

Balayage is a French word meaning to sweep or to paint. It allows for a sun-kissed natural looking hair colour – similar to what nature gives us as children – with softer, less noticeable regrowth lines. The principal idea being less is more when creating soft, natural looks. – Marie Claire

So what is the difference between Balayage and Ombre?

The word ombre comes from the French word “shadow”. Ombre is the actual style. It is the transition of a lighter shade from a darker shade. Generally, ombres work best on brunettes because it is the least subtle of all the techniques, a sombre is what we would see on blondes. That technique is more subtle, hence the word sombre. Ombre is great for the more daring girl, it is definitely more noticeable and typically more maintenance. Ombre is kind of like color blocking, there are no dark pieces left on the bottom to help keep it natural, just a nice transition between the colors. – Style Lounge Salon
