August 20/21: L’Oreal Paris Detox & Brightening Pure Clay Mask

I am obsessed with face masks and I love charcoal based face products, which is why Dark Angel from Lush is one of my most favorite face cleanser. So, I’ve been really excited to try L’Oreal’s new line of clay masks. One of its biggest incentive is the affordable price ($12.99 on Loreal.com, $9.98 on Amazon). To be fair to the product, I decided to try one mask out at a time, beginning with the detox and brightening mask for its obvious charcoal ingredient. As per direction, I applied it three times a week and have been using it for three weeks (the bottle will last me about another week). So, one jar will last approximately one month if used as directed.

This may be one of the most smoothest application of a mask I’ve tried. It glides onto my face with a sheen velvety texture, which looks and feels beautiful on the skin. It’s almost like painting my face with luxurious oil paint. The product just feels incredibly high quality.

After application, the mask dries and tightens the face within a few minutes. I keep it on for 15 minutes (by then 99% of the face is dry) and remove with a muslin cloth for best results. The charcoal helps detoxify and illuminate the skin, whereas the potent pure clays work to draw out impurities from the skin. It claims that your face will feel and look bright and new within its first use, and it does.

My face is definitely cleaner (so I know the detoxing part is working) and although not dramatic, my face has overall become brighter. I think if I were to continue to use this product, it will render more effective results. Bottom line, for $10, it is well worth the money.

I am curious to see how the other two masks work out, and will be trying those next and if I like them all, I will probably cycle them out in my masking routine, as I do with all the other masks I own. Because with me, if I use one product for too long, it stops working its magic effectively.

L’Oreal’s detox & brightening pure clay mask gets 2 thumbs up for me.

Happy Masking!
