Welcome to my January Recommendation! This month, it’s all about candles. If any of you have been following me on Instagram for awhile, then you probably know that I am in love with Vellabox!
What is Vellabox?
It’s a monthly candle subscription. I can understand your disinterest if you are not a candle person, but before you click away, consider if you know someone who does love candles? You do, right? Because we all have at least one person in our life that is candle obsessed. Then, read the rest of this post on their behalf.
Vellabox is a company that curates the best seasonal all-natural candles. They discover and distribute candles that are made in small batches (so you can’t find them everywhere), are toxin-free, lead-free, hand poured, made with cotton wicks and either coconut, vegetable or soy wax based. They are made by local artisans in the USA.
How does it work?
Vellabox offers three types of monthly subscriptions:
4oz candle + surprise gift: $10/month + $2 shipping & handling
8oz candle + surprise gift: $20/month + $2 shipping & handling
8oz candle + 4oz candle + surprise gift: $30/month (no shipping & handle charges)
After you select your subscription plan, each month a vellabox candle will be delivered to your doorsteps. Payment is taken the 1st of the month, candle is shipped on the 5th of the month via ground shipping. Vellabox is based out of Los Angeles, CA therefore, arrival of the shipment may vary depending on your distance from the shipping facility. I live in New Jersey and it generally takes 7 days post shipment for the candle to arrive.
Perks
If you share a picture of your vellabox candle each month on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest, you will accumulate points which have a direct monetary value. For example, for each tweet you receive 100 points ($1), Instagram post, 300 points ($3) and so on. The points may be used to purchase candles at the candle shop (they may not be used towards the monthly subscription). However, if you post on all social media channels each month, you’ll end up with 1000 points ($10) to spend on a candle of your choice. I have been redeeming my points for a second candle every single month, thanks to the rewards system!
Customer Service
Customer service is really important to me when selecting a brand to purchase. You hope to never need them, but if and when you do, it needs to excellent. Vellabox shines in this department, especially Neil Verhoff, a Vellabox representative I’ve dealt with a few times and the encounter has been nothing short of excellence, every single time!
Good To Know
Unlike other subscriptions, you can’t “skip” with Vellabox. You can cancel anytime but there isn’t a skip/hold option.
Gifts
If candle isn’t your thing, you may want to consider gifting a subscription to someone in your life for whom candles are a big deal. I gifted a few Vellabox subscriptions as birthday presents to my friends this past year, and they have all loved it!
