February 18: Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling is incredibly hilarious, smart and witty all while being incredibly relatable, down to earth and honest. Her memoir will take you through the recent years of her journey (you have to read her first book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? and Other Concerns to get the memoirs of the first half of her life) but while doing that, she makes sure you’re not disinterested in the slightest. She offers advices, gives anecdotes and tells you exactly how it is. It’s an easy read and so engaging that not only will you not want to put it down, but you will literally laugh out loud from the first page onwards.
I adore Mindy Kaling as a writer, actress and as a personality. I think she’s incredibly unique, very aware of her strengths and weaknesses and she’s honest. I quite admire her for the way in which she conducts her life and how much of a go getter she is. If it were possible, I would totally want to befriend her. I think we would get along famously!
So if you haven’t read her books or watched her show, The Mindy Project on Hulu. Give them both a try, you may be pleasantly (and hilariously) surprised.
Side note: If you have audible, download her book and listen to it there because she narrates it herself! What could be more authentic than Mindy Kaling reading Mindy Kaling’s book to you?!
Happy Reading!
