March 1: Do Something New Every Month
It’s not always easy to do something new every week, but doing something new every month is totally attainable, you just have to be open minded about what “new” thing to try. It can be something as simple as reading a new book (technically not a new activity, but it is a new item you’re indulging in) or dabbing into a new skill (baking, painting, archery) or something completely wacky (trampoline jumping) or something travel oriented (taking a weekend or even day trip to a new destination in your state/city) or something incredibly daring (traveling solo for some and jumping off a plane for others) or something to better your health (yoga, zumba, walking/running your first 5K) or last but certainly not least, volunteering your time (at a soup kitchen, shelter, after school program, etc.).
The focus is to do something new, both to enhance a skill you may already have or to discover a new one but more importantly, to live life a little bit more fuller. I know how difficult it is to find time for oneself. Hours run into days, days into weeks, weeks into months and months in years and often years into decades. All the while, you’re waiting for the “right time” to come along for you to focus on yourself. The truth is, it’ll never come because life doesn’t work that way. Life won’t come with a sign that says “Hey, its your turn for YOU now.” No, you have to do that yourself and it is only when you do that for yourself, can you be a better version of yourself for your loved ones.
So do everyone a favor, most importantly, do yourself a favor, and take time out to enhance YOU.
