It’s like Angie’s List, except you don’t have to pay to find what you’re looking for.

Daily Recommendation: American Automobile Association (AAA)

Today, my car broke down, for what is probably the umpteenth time. I did what I always do, called AAA. Being stranded with a car issue can be very overwhelming and unnerving, which is why having the peace of mind with a auto services, such as AAA is a life saver. You are not obligated to make any big decision on the spot, instead, just have the car towed (or tire replaced, gas filled) and take your time thinking through the next step. My car trouble today, was huge – the motor was making such a horrifying noise, it sounded like the insides of the car were tumbling in a dryer. I was 22+ miles from home and trying to resolve the issue on the spot was not an option. It was already close of business for most places, I didn’t know how much it would cost, where I would take it, so instead, I had the option of towing it home and didn’t have to pay a single additional penny out of pocket.  Continue reading “Daily Recommendation: American Automobile Association (AAA)”

March 11: TodayTix

TodayTix is an app that provides last minute (up to 7 days in advance) theater tickets at great discount prices. I’ve used several discount ticket apps and sites before, but none have been as wonderful as TodayTix with service, cost, and ticket options. 

Shows, Ticket Prices and Seats

With TodayTix, you pick your show, time and seat preference (Orchestra, Mezzanine, Balcony) but not the actual seats. TodayTix assigns seats based on availabilities in your chosen area/price range. On the day of the show, a TodayTix representative will hand deliver your ticket in front of the venue, 30 minutes prior to the start of the show, which means no waiting in line!

Daily Recommendation: Skip the Carry On Luggage if Wheelchair Assistance is Required

January 26: Skip the Carry On Luggage if Wheelchair Assistance is Required

I apologize for the delay in posting this, but I’ve been on travel and it’s been difficult to get the postings done in a timely manner. Having said that, this is also exactly how I came to this particular recommendation.

Traveling with someone who needs wheelchair assistance at airpots can be very challenging, physically and mentally. Not because of the person in need of assistance, but because of how airport/airline personnel handle these situations. In the past few months, I’ve been flying a lot with my mom, who needs wheelchair assistance, and the sheer volume of headache each airport/airline has caused us (with the exception of Jet Blue) has been profound. Everything from forgetting to provide the service (even when pre-requested and confirmed), to not taking her all the way to the gate as requested, to making us wait on the plane because they forgot to have it setup on the arrival, et al has been a headache.  Continue reading “Daily Recommendation: Skip the Carry On Luggage if Wheelchair Assistance is Required”

Macy’s just gave me the most wonderful customer service today! Let me take you back to how it all started….

Last week, I ordered the Martha Stewart Collection Allergywise 2 Pack Euro Pillows on the Macy’s website, to be picked up at a local Macy’s store. The order was processed but a day later it was cancelled because the location no longer carried the item. I used a gift card to make the purchase, and the card was restored to its original amount.
